International Women’s Day is a global day celebrated on 8th March each year celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
International Women’s Day has occurred for well over a century with the first IWD gathering in 1911.
This year’s theme was #EmbraceEquity and the theme focuses on women driving digital innovation and technological advancement.
To ’embrace equity’ means to believe, value and seek out differences as a necessary and positive element of life.
International Women’s Day is one of the most important days of the year to:
Acknowledge and celebrate women’s achievements
Educate and raise awareness for women’s equality
Call for positive change advancing women
A celebratory lunch was held in March for the Heard Financial team to acknowledge the high achieving, innovative women at Heard Financial.
Staff were encouraged to wear purple (signifying justice and dignity) and share inspirational and positive quotes with each other.
The event was very uplifting and helped raise awareness of the central themes of IWD.
